my body, a journal

enso, the zen circle. representing the endless circle of birth, death and rebirth.
enso, the imperfect brush-stroke circle. representing unending unity.

my feelings toward the circle are best expressed by the beautiful lyrics of fleet foxes, who word the sentiment better than i ever could:

"i was raised up believing
i was somehow unique
like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes,
unique in each way you can see

and now after some thinking,
i'd say i'd rather be
a functioning cog in some great machinery
serving something beyond me"

*song here.

mobius - a strip

there is no separation between inner and outer. if we run our fingers softly along the paths our lives take, we will see how that which is spiritual and that which is external reality are one and the same.

soul full

as I lent back in foodie satisfaction after devouring a delicious rajasthani-style bean and rice dish, I sighed "i'm so full" to my close friend dimi.

he lent back beside me and said "you are soul full".

it's become my whispered offering of thanks for every meal i have. i sigh, savour the last bite and remind myself i'm soul full.

unity of body and mind

memories of yoga in the shade of the sacred arunachala mountain.

a sage lived here for 26 years, seeking a life of solitude and meditation. his spirit lives on in the many saddhus who sit on the street corners of tiruvannamalai and dedicate their lives to spiritual practice.

i only had a weekend to offer, but i offered it all.
